Bridging the gap between physical and logical security

LexisNexis Special Services Extends Screening Solutions With Digital Defense Group Biocards

LexisNexis Screening and Identity Verification Solutions Incorporate Digital Defense Group Factor4 Biocard Technology to Protect Privacy and Monitor Ongoing Access

OMAHA, Neb. and WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 31, 2006--Digital Defense Group, a developer and supplier of biometric security products, has reached agreement with LexisNexis® Special Services, U.S., a leading provider of information and technology solutions to government, to extend LexisNexis' screening and identity verification solutions offering to the federal government as a reseller of Digital Defense Group Factor4(TM) on-card self-enrolling biocards(TM).

Through this agreement, LexisNexis Special Services and Digital Defense Group are able to offer its customers in federal and state & local government a scalable, policy-based solution for secure credentialing, identity verification and ongoing monitoring designed to protect against identity fraud.

"Digital Defense Group's technology offers the highest level of security and biometric privacy simultaneously," said Steve Campisi, CEO of Digital Defense Group. "We are pleased that LexisNexis recognizes the value proposition of Factor4 self-enrolling biocards, and we are excited to join Digital Defense Group's technology with LexisNexis' flexible screening solutions to create a very compelling solution for government."

Factor4 biocard is a credit card-sized, wireless biometric security device that grants secure building and computer access through the use of digital certificates as well as secure document and digital image transport. The self-enrolling, self-contained biocards require no centralized database or external software, thereby protecting the user's privacy at all times - and simplifying identity management.

"After coming out of a series of successful pilot projects, Digital Defense Group is just beginning the lengthy accreditation process for Federal Information Processing Standards 201 compliance," said Campisi. "While our technology is interruptive - a next generation of smart card technology - we expect to be compliant this year. We certainly believe we offer the 'secure and reliable identification' required in Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 and the additional requirements of Personal Identity Verification of Federal Employees and Contractors."

Norm Willox, CEO of LexisNexis Special Services Inc., said, "In order to effectively protect access to our borders and credential guest workers or provide credentials to handlers of hazardous materials and access to secure areas, agencies require effective and practical screening solutions that enable them to issue credentials quickly and monitor access rights, while affording the individual appropriate protections for their privacy. By enhancing our industry-leading screening and identity verification solutions with leading policy-based biocard technology, we extend our commitment to assisting the U.S. homeland security community in their mission to secure national borders and protect critical infrastructure."
